Welcome

This is the Philippine History Primary Sources website.

What can be found in this site?

  • eyewitness accounts of key events in Philippine history
  • important historical documents (e.g., Rizal's works, versions of the Philippine constitution, etc.)
  • important works on Philippine history (e.g. Morga, Retana, Craig)

Why primary sources?

  • Many students consider the study of history as boring and uninteresting.
  • Use of primary sources enliven history and allows the student to experience vicariously (i.e. through reading) what others experienced as they lived through history.
  • Simply put, use of primary sources puts the story back in history.
